I wonder what trait of mine you will first see:
The frizz in my hair or the scar on my knee?
And what quality will I notice on you?
Perhaps too-short pants or a scuff on your shoe?
Will our starting chatter be stilted and terse?
Will we discuss weather, or football, or worse --
Will you bring up tales of your exes long gone
But with whom comparison still lingers on?
They're here: curiosity, worry, and doubt.
Thank goodness for friends who will bail me out.
